Yes its been long since I have penned down any of my trips or experiences... Well I know all of you must be tired of reading news of economy slow down, swine flu and war.. Well I am tired too and its time for enjoying some of the nature in your sweatshirts, denims and trainers..So gear up guys - and be ready to explore the nature with me.
Here is a post for soothing your thoughts and to think of nothing but the beauty and feel blessed! Our latest trip was nowhere in States this time, it was to Vancouver, Canada.
Though it was a very short trip over a weekend, and was meant to be a family get together, we managed to escape in the wonders of this beautiful city..
Vancouver is the city surrounded by mountains on three sides and ocean on the fourth.. The skyline of this city is simply superb with a backdrop of snow covered mountains and blue waters... The Canada Place, is the most distinct structure that makes the skyline of Vancouver special.. The way this structure is built - is such that it gives you a feel of a big ship docked at the shore. Stanley Park is the biggest park over there which you cannot imagine walking all by yourself.. You either need to drive through the park or hop in- hop off the tour bus. The best place in this park is 'Prospect Point' where you can get a panoramic view of the ocean from a good altitude. Another stop over in the park was the English Bay where you could just relax your tired feet on the beach. Yes Beach Again!! :-)
The amazing rain forests of the city can be explored by visiting the suspension bridges. Granville Island is another must go place which is so lively and vibrant!
Nestled between the mountains and the ocean, the city has so many outdoor activities to offer for those who are adventure freak!! From fishing to hiking, camping to golfing, jet skiing to whale watching - name the activity and the city promises to offer you...This is probably the only city which can offer you skiing on the mountains in the morning and heading to beaches in the afternoon.. Yes amazing isnt it, but yes if you visit this place in june/july - you can do both winter and summer activities. :-) This unique thing and couple more makes it a city that has no parallel in the world.
Walk around the downtown, and you can simply praise the way its built with all the greenery around the walkways and the trees on either sides of the streets simply adorn the place. The small flower baskets hanging from the lampposts can promise a big smile on anybody passing by with a long face..
This town of 2.5 million has got an international flair to it. All kinds of great food - be it English, Italian, Asian.. And to mark our trip over, we had 'un bon dîner' at Sarvana Bhavan - the mini ghee idlis and the dosas were simply amazing!!
The quite lifestyle and the weather just makes it an awesome place to settle down, but ofcourse in ur late 40s...
