I wish it were simple!

I wish it would be simple
I wish it would not stress me out
I wish it would not bring tears in my eyes.

I wish it would be easy to talk
I wish it would be easy to smile
I wish it would be easy to live.

I wish it would be easy to forget
I wish it would be easy to let it go
I wish it would be easy to forgive
I wish it would be easy to apologize.

I wish I could toughen up as I always used to
I wish I could hold up the tears in my eyes from rolling down my cheeks
I wish I could smile away all sorrows
I wish I could see sunshine on a gloomy day
I wish I could pull it together.

I wish it would be easy to roll a dice
I wish it would be easy to build a sand castle
I wish it would be easy to follow the rules
I wish it would be easy to flip a coin.

I wish things would have been different
I wish I could care more
I wish I could make one smile.

I had thought it would be a lot more simpler!

What was it like?

What was it like - to scribble something here..
What was it like - to take a walk on a sandy beach..
What was it like - to go biking..
What was it like - to hold hands and watch the sun go down the waters..
What was it like - to wake up to see it had snowed all night...

What was it like - to sit with old friend and make him feel you were there for him..
What was it like - to sit in the train and solve the sudoku..
What was it like - to enjoy the chocolate croissant before the dance class..
What was it like - to dance like crazy until you cant feel your legs..

What was it like - to enjoy the egg curry with ghee rice..
What was it like - to enjoy the coffee at Krishna's..
What was it like - sitting outside the hostel room and chat with friend till dawn..

What was it like - to save 10 bucks for the cold coco..
What was it like - to chat for hours with the dear one on the terrace..
What was it like - to dance all night for those 10 days every year..

What was it like - to sing aloud..
What was it like - to be sweet 16..
What was it like - to speak to a stranger on the road..
What was it like - to enjoy the vacation at home with mum..

What was it like??

This too shall pass!

Well first things first. Thanks to my friend, whose gtalk status message inspired me to write this post.

I came across this quote, as one of my friends gtalk status message. When I read this saying, I was more like 'Oh common don't fool me. Don't give me those false hopes. It does not sound that promising in times of despair'. And I totally neglected the meaning behind it. It was another day, but the status message is still same. Yet another day, and it is still the same. Finally I had to google it to know the origin of this quote. The quote is very short, simple and straight forward, but the incredible story line behind it is well worth mentioning it. So here it is for all those who don't know the story.

The origin of this quote is associated with a story of an ancient Persian king. While he was sad he feared that the time of distress and failure will last forever. So once he assembled all his wise men and asked them to bring him a solution, to end this suffering of his. After a while, the wise men brought him a gold ring inscribed with these letters:

'This too shall pass'

Since that day, by looking at that ring, king got comfort and solace in times of distress, he never lost his equilibrium in moments of darkness, he started believing that he will be able to break the chains of suffering and be happy once again.

So this post is dedicated to all those friends of mine who are in blues for some or the other reasons. Be it your job or your sweetheart or your family or your dream. Be calm and sit tight, even if the world is crashing on to you. Believe in yourself when the whole world is doubting you. Even if you have lost everything that you own, remember you still have your knowledge and you can fight the darkness yet again.

Once you choose hope, anything's possible.

Some of us wake up with chirping of birds outside our window. Some of us wake up with the cool breeze from over the oceans! Some of us wake up to find a new flower in our backyard. Well not all of us are so lucky to have such beautiful mornings. Some of us wake up to find gloomy sky while some might wake up to the aftermath of earthquake or floods. Some of us might be waking up to find they have lost their dear ones in the war or terrorism.

Of-course these makes two categories of people. I would say one is fortunate and another one is unfortunate. What is it that makes the difference after all. Unless the people in second category start hoping for the better tomorrow, they wouldn't be able to survive their today. Yes its all about 'Hope'. Hope can be as great as the blues of Pacific Ocean. It can be as small as a drop of water lost in the huge ocean. It can be as beautiful as the aroma of roses in the garden. It can be as lovely as the sun-rays kissing the sand in the desserts. It could be as cheerful as the dolphins dancing in the waters.

You are what you think! Think big to become big! Isn't it? Life can be painted the way you want - the thing you need is 'Hope' to paint your dreams with the colors you wish. I am not saying its only hope - that makes one big. You do need hard work, zeal, perseverance, dedication along with hope. However for the people who are unfortunate, and who cannot repair certain things as those stuffs might be beyond their abilities - Hope is what can make them stronger, and can give them the zeal to persevere for their dream.

'Fear can hold you back Prisoner, Hope can set you free'. - A quote from this amazing movie - Shawshank Redemption. If you give up hope, I guess you succumb to the fear of darkness and failure. May be it is difficult in certain situation, but imagine is it better without hope? Ever wondered why do we say 'Fingers Crossed' so many times. Its nothing but Hope. A ray of light at the end of a dark tunnel.

'Once you choose hope, anything's possible.' - Very rightly said by Christopher Reeve.

"ting tong"

Moving to a new community recently and not having friendly faces around is bothering me a lot these days.. Kept thinking what would be the best way to introduce myself to my neighbors. May be make some cookies and take along with me... or may be invite them over for milk and cookies to my place. Or how about a barbeque and get to know some of the faces around. Or rather complement somebody on their lawn or plants outside their home and start having a small talk. I kept thinking I should go to gym, so that I meet some of the people around the community. However it was all thinking and no implementing. Well there could be thousands of ways to do this ice breaking session.. And i was lost among all of these for quite sometime now. It is so important to have a friendly neighbor than a distant close relative. Neighbors could be reached out first in case of emergency.

Finally the day came for some action. I had gone out and when I came back, decided to knock my neighbor's door. Ting Tong. And there she was. Just a 5 minutes conversation but was good to finally be able to break the ice.

Looking forward to making friends in the community!!! Hoping for the better.

Little Stickie on my Dashboard!

Well finally penning down the stuffs that I need to do this year. The list is growing and I don't want to lose track of anything, so thought it would be best to jot down these here. Last year had made a similar list but hardly managed to cross off few items from the list. So this year I want to be little more serious in putting a small tick marks along side these stuffs.

1. Get a full time job.
2. Enroll myself in some activity.
3. Make regular use of the lovely gym and pool of the community.
4. Do some volunteering.
5. Blog more often.
6. Get to know my neighbors.
7. Call my friends more often.
8. Paint my living room.
9. Plan a trip to India this year.
10. Get into reading routine again.
11. Convince my hubby for getting a pet!

Internet use linked to depression | Metro.co.uk

Came across this article today. Worth giving a thought. This is a study by some British Psychologists and it makes sense to me. I think it is the depression that leads to the addiction of internet. What do you guys think?

2009 - A travel spree!

One fun filled year just passed by. Lets see what this year has stored in for me.

Last year was one heck of a travel spree for us. We started with honeymooning in Hawaii, followed by valentines day in Chicago, and then a quick getaway to NYC with friends.
Then came the weddings in India (Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore), followed by surprise birthday celebrations at Florida.
A sudden trip to Niagara falls on American Independence day and a get together with friends.
Like this was not enough we hailed to Vancouver for Rakhi celebrations. Planned a trip to Mount Rushmore for Hubby's birthday celebrations. A day in LA, and than came Anniversary Celebrations at Cancun Mexico.
The year came to an end, we grabbed the opportunity for one more outing - and yes you guessed it right the occasion this time was new years celebrations. Partied like never before at none other than Vegas!

Now that was one real crazy year! We didn't miss a single month in the calendar, where we didn't have to pack our bags and fly somewhere. Not to mention the year begun with relocating to Minneapolis and ended with relocating to Orange County, California.

Looking forward for an eventful 2010 now...

Aal Iz Welll..

Another great movie from Aamir. :-) Just loved the movie. A MUST WATCH MOVIE.

The movie keeps switching back and forth from present to flashback and is very well narrated by Farhaan - Madhavan. I can understand if you have split thoughts about going and watching a movie where 40+ year old men are acting as College students! But believe me, leave all the minor details aside, and just go and watch the movie. I am sure in the end you will be all praise for the movie.

The movie very well depicts the Indian education system, and how things have become today. A very good preaching to the government to change the system, in a funny, amicable way. Movie depicts how everybody has succumbed to the traditional and conventional way of studying in today's world, but there are still a few people like Rancho (Aamir Khan), who question the system and yet top the grades!

The movie does revolve around Aamir Khan as the hero on the screenplay, but the credit goes to every single person acted in the movie and behind the screens. Boman Irani has done his usual best at the tough Dean of a well renowned institute. Sharman Joshi is too good in all the scenes and especially in the ones he break downs! Madhavan has once again done justice to his role. Amazing music, which I can keep listening to all day!! Cinematography brings out the magnificent beauty of Ladakh!

This blog was started couple of days back, but publishing only now. Don't want to reveal any hilarious moment of the movie, and spoil the fun. So go and watch for yourself and enjoy..I promise it is a total paisa vasool movie..
